Stellenbeschreibung:

Dispenses prescription and over-the-counter medications to patients and provides expert advice on their proper use. Manages a community pharmacy or works in a hospital pharmacy, ensuring safe preparation of medications, checking for drug interactions, and advising on health and wellness products.

Aufgabenbereich:

Responsible for reviewing prescriptions for accuracy and appropriateness, compounding or supervising the preparation of personalized medications, and maintaining records for controlled substances. Provides counsel to patients on how and when to take medications, potential side effects, and storage. In a community setting, also manages inventory, orders pharmaceutical supplies, and may administer basic health screenings or vaccinations (if certified to do so).

Bildungsanforderungen:

State examination in Pharmacy (Staatsexamen Pharmazie) and licensure as a pharmacist (Approbation). Completion of the required internship year (Praktisches Jahr). Strong knowledge of pharmacology, regulations, and excellent communication skills for patient interaction.

Accurately fill and label prescription medications; counsel customers on use of both prescription and OTC drugs; check for potential drug-drug or drug-food interactions; manage pharmacy team members (pharmacy technicians, interns); handle insurance paperwork and reimbursement issues; organize health promotion events or consult with physicians about medication therapies when needed.
