Stellenbeschreibung:

Diagnoses and treats individuals with speech, language, voice, and swallowing disorders. Works with children and adults in settings such as clinics, schools, or hospitals to improve communication abilities, clarity of speech, and safe swallowing function through exercises and therapy techniques.

Aufgabenbereich:

Responsible for conducting assessments to identify speech or language difficulties, such as articulation issues, stuttering, aphasia after stroke, or voice problems. Develops individualized therapy plans that may include articulation drills, language comprehension exercises, or voice modulation techniques. Teaches clients exercises to strengthen oral muscles or strategies to manage stuttering moments. Works collaboratively with families, educators, or other healthcare providers (like neurologists or ENT doctors) to support the client's communication goals and monitors progress throughout therapy sessions.

Bildungsanforderungen:

Degree in Speech-Language Therapy/Pathology (Logopädie) from a recognized institution. State license or certification to practice as a Speech Therapist in Germany. Knowledge of linguistic development and neuroanatomy, and special training for specific techniques (e.g., Bobath or Castillo Morales for certain disorders) can be beneficial.

Evaluate clients' speech intelligibility and language understanding using standardized tests; conduct therapy sessions focusing on pronunciation, vocabulary building, or cognitive communication strategies; utilize tools like picture cards, tongue depressors, or computer software for interactive practice; work on voice therapy by practicing pitch, volume, and breathing techniques; implement swallowing rehabilitation exercises for dysphagia patients (e.g., after a stroke); keep detailed notes on session outcomes and adjust methods as needed to meet goals.
