Assesses and treats individuals with mental health issues, emotional difficulties, or behavioral problems. Utilizes therapeutic methods (such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, talk therapy) in private practice, hospitals, or counseling centers to help clients manage conditions like depression, anxiety, trauma, or relationship challenges.
Aufgabenbereich:
Responsible for conducting psychological evaluations through interviews, questionnaires, and standardized tests to diagnose mental health conditions. Develops treatment plans that may involve regular therapy sessions, coping skill training, and goal-setting. Monitors patient progress, provides a confidential and empathetic environment for discussion, and, when necessary, works in conjunction with psychiatrists (for medication management) or other health professionals. Also maintains detailed case notes and adheres to ethical standards and patient confidentiality laws.
Bildungsanforderungen:
Master's or Diploma in Psychology, plus additional training and certification as a Clinical Psychologist or psychotherapist in Germany (Approbation as Psychologischer Psychotherapeut with a specialization, e.g., CBT or psychoanalysis). Continuous professional development to stay updated on therapy research.

Conduct intake interviews to gather personal and medical histories; perform diagnostic tests (e.g., personality inventories, symptom checklists) as needed; provide individual or group therapy sessions weekly or biweekly; employ specific therapeutic techniques (CBT thought records, exposure therapy, relaxation training, etc.); set measurable goals with clients (like improved mood, reduced panic attacks) and regularly review them; possibly lead workshops or psychoeducational groups on mental health topics; coordinate care or referrals for clients needing additional services (such as in-patient treatment or social support services).
